It is the first of its kind to be ever made. Cardano started in 2015 and was officially launched in 2017, its founders being Charles Hoskinson and Jeremy Wood. Charles Hoskinson is also a co-founder of Ethereum and Bitshares Hoskinson left Ethereum when Ethereum turned away from its original purpose of being a non-profit to a profit-making foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-black-color has-text-color\">It started by a non-profit-making foundation that combines scholars from different institutions like the University of Edinburgh and Tokyo Institute of Technology. Cardano aims <strong>to improve the escalating problems<\/strong> of Bitcoin and Ethereum. Issues with Bitcoin are the fact that it slow and inflexible also Ethereum is not safe and scalable.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large is-resized\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/walloftraders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Sans-titre-1.png\" alt=\"Cardano ADA logo\" class=\"wp-image-2338\" width=\"219\" height=\"199\" srcset=\"https:\/\/walloftraders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Sans-titre-1.png 411w, https:\/\/walloftraders.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/Sans-titre-1-300x274.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 219px) 100vw, 219px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-black-color has-text-color\">Cardano uses <strong>ADA <\/strong>as its <strong>native crypto currency<\/strong>, named after Ada Lovelace an English mathematician and writer who lived in the 19th Century. Cardano named after Gerolamo Cardano an Italian polymath who lived in the 16th Century.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-black-color has-text-color\">Premiered with a <strong>market cap<\/strong> of $600 million, it had by the end of the year 2017 a market cap worth $10 billion. In 2018 it hit $31 billion but things got tough and it went down to $1 billion. In 2021 it reached $35 billion market cap.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"operation-and-purpose\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Operation_and_Purpose\"><\/span>Operation and Purpose<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-black-color has-text-color\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cardano.org\/\">Cardano <\/a><\/strong>has two layers that work together to complete its functionality. The first layer is the <strong>Cardano Settlement Layer<\/strong> (CSL) playing the role of arranging transactions that use <strong>ADA<\/strong>. It has a unit of account for its purpose. Secondly is the control or computation layer which authorizes <strong>Smart Contracts<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-black-color has-text-color\">The goals are to provide interoperable secure services for the mainstream finance ecosystem. Cardano uses Ouroboros <strong>proof of stake<\/strong> technology which does not allow anyone to mine new blocks. Ouroboros algorithm selects which nodes will earn a position as slot leader. So basically you become a slot leader when Cardano consensus select your coin to generate new blocks. This is safe contrary to Bitcoin which can use a pool of miners to approve a fraud transaction. In the case of suspected fraud, the slot leader loses their reward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"the-risks-with-cardano\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_risks_with_Cardano\"><\/span>The risks with Cardano<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-black-color has-text-color\"><strong>Cardano <\/strong>is not perfect even with all the good measures that it has employed to protect itself. Someone with enough money can buy up to <strong>51%<\/strong> of slots and approve a transaction that is fraud and end up. This may be impractical because of the market cap it is huge to take out 51%. Since the size of the stake has to be considered then the system ought to choose rich people and this will end up making them richer and increase their chances of being selected again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-black-color has-text-color\">If anyone is thinking of investing in Cardano, they can.
